Life-lines/Laugh-lines
Lines and marks are a symbolic visual language, unique to each of us, like handwriting, eye colour, and fingerprints. They are life-lines as individual as facial wrinkles and laugh lines. When I create these gestural drawings, I am drawing loosely using automatic movements right from my shoulder, free-flowing uninhibited symbols, 'live and direct' from the subconscious. I involve my whole body, giving each drawing an unrestrained quality. Unless I am changing my medium, I keep my hand on the paper and in motion. These drawings incorporate layers of emotion reflecting a continuum of moods, thoughts, and feelings. They tell different stories to different viewers.
