In April 2025, I was fortunate to attend the Chateau d'Orquevaux artists and writers international residency. It was roughly a year ago when I received the letter of acceptance. This was a greatly anticipated journey to France where I shared the experience with 25 other artists, musicians and writers.
Chateau d'Orquevaux offered everyone respite from "real" world energy. This magnificent estate in the French countryside of Champagne-Ardenne offered all of us a place with limited distraction and an abundance of natural inspiration along with a private studio spaces to create in. We could create in an open door atmosphere or closed door privacy. We were offered workshops and optional life drawing. Upon arrival we were treated like royalty with a champagne dinner reception where we met all the other artists in residence. It wasn't long before we became co-creators and friends, learning from each other and being inspired by the creative lives lead by other artists. I have returned from the most exhilarating artists residency with new work to show and so much more inspiration to work with. And I'm so proud that one of my large paintings, created onsite at the residency, was acquired by the Diderot Gallery for the permanent collection at the Chateau. It is so humbling to have become part of the history of this family's chateau in the middle of France. Comments are closed.

I am preoccupied by the intuitive journey that paint takes me on with its colour and texture when working with layers that can be revealed through scratching back, rubbing away or lifting, to bring back the history of the previous layers. Archive
