GELATIN MONOPRINTS
I was introduced to gel prints in a one day workshop. From that moment on, I was hooked. it requires planning and preparation therefore its an event when I can reserve a day for printing.
STATEMENT
Monoprinting on gelatin plates is a non editionable method of printing, in essence it is "printed painting". No two prints can be alike.
In this printmaking method no press is required and only a small amount of hand pressure is applied to the paper on the "plate". Water soluble inks are used to create the images. The "plate" lasts for a day at the most and every image pulled is unique and cannot be identically reproduced.
My prints are often embellished with additional collage elements to add to the layering effect. I use organic material, brush work, stamps and other items that can give me a negative or positive image. |
